Manage Category Metafields

All right, steps two and three, we

filled in all of our product categories

for our products. And then in step four,

we looked at the full list of product

categories and decided which ones we

wanted to keep in our store and how we

were going to manage the overall

category structure. Now, in step five,

what we're doing is we're going to

decide for each of the categories we're

going to keep, what meta fields we want

to have for those categories. Now,

you're going to use meta fields for

things like filters on your collection

pages or as elements that people can

search on or maybe structured data you

put on the product page about the

products. So, you need to decide for

your store which meta fields you want

for each category. Let's say there's a

category of t-shirts. You may decide

that you want to have filters for color

and size. So, you're going to want meta

fields for those. But maybe your

t-shirts also come in different

materials. So you may want to have a

meta field for material. So when you go

into the category metap fields manager,

it's going to allow you to walk through

each node in your taxonomy of categories

and decide what meta fields you're going

to have for them. And there's a detailed

tutorial on that page that walks you

through all the steps for that. And in

this process, by the time you're done,

you'll define what meta fields you want

for each of your categories.
